Individuals

Individual tax preparation and strategy.

A 1040 is a record of decisions already made. We prepare the return with care, then work backward through the decisions that produced it so next year's outcome is chosen rather than discovered.

Situations we prepare

Returns are rarely simple once life is involved.

  1. 01

    W-2 households

Withholding review, itemized versus standard deduction analysis, education and dependent care credits, and estimated payments when a second income source appears.
  2. 02

    Self-employed and gig income

Schedule C preparation, self-employment tax, the qualified business income deduction, home office and vehicle substantiation, and quarterly estimate planning.
  3. 03

    Rental and passive income

Schedule E reporting, depreciation schedules, passive activity loss limitations, and basis tracking across years of ownership.
  4. 04

    Stock and equity income

Reporting of employer stock and investment income shown on your tax documents, with discussion of withholding and estimated payments where relevant.
  5. 05

    Moves and state filing questions

Discussion of residency and state filing questions that arise after a move, and referral or coordination when a situation calls for it.
  6. 06

    Prior-year and correspondence

Unfiled or amended returns, reconstruction of records, and organized responses to notices from federal and state agencies.

Planning, not just filing

What year-round engagement changes.

Most of the levers on an individual return close on December 31. Engagement that lasts the whole year lets us act while those levers are still open.

  • Mid-year withholding and estimated-payment checkpoints
  • Timing of deductible expenses, charitable gifts and retirement contributions
  • Basis and holding-period review before a sale, not after
  • Documentation standards set before the deduction is claimed
  • Coordination with an attorney or investment adviser where relevant

Next step

Start with a conversation, not a document upload.

Initial consultations review your situation in general terms. Source documents move later, and only through the secure client portal.

Descriptions on this page are general and educational. Treatment of any item depends on your complete facts, documentation and applicable federal and state law.
